Central Teacher Eligibility Test

CTET Paper II is designed to evaluate candidates' eligibility for teaching positions in upper primary schools across India. It assesses their proficiency in teaching pedagogy, child development, and subject-specific knowledge relevant to the elementary stage curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of their Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent qualification recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Syllabus:

The syllabus for CTET Paper II encompasses the following subjects:

Child Development and Pedagogy: Understanding child psychology, pedagogical concepts, and teaching methodologies suitable for upper primary level teaching.

Language I: Proficiency in the medium of instruction chosen by the candidate (typically English or the regional language).

Language II: Proficiency in a second language (different from Language I), chosen from a list of options.

Mathematics and Science: Knowledge and pedagogical understanding of Mathematics and Science subjects.

Social Studies/Social Science: Understanding of Social Studies and Social Science subjects, including History, Geography, Civics, and Economics.

Examination Pattern:

CTET Paper II consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying one mark.

The duration of the examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

There are typically 150 questions in total, distributed across the different subjects.

Candidates are required to attempt all sections within the stipulated time frame.

Passing Criteria:

To qualify CTET Paper II, candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled require a minimum of 55% marks for qualification.

Validity of CTET Certificate:

The CTET eligibility certificate remains valid for a period of seven years from the date of result declaration.

Candidates can take the CTET exam multiple times within the validity period to improve their scores or enhance their qualifications.

CTET Paper II serves as a benchmark for assessing candidates' readiness and competence to teach at the upper primary level, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the education system in India.
