CTET PAPER I

CTET Paper I aims to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in primary schools across India. It evaluates candidates' proficiency in teaching pedagogy, child development, and specific subjects relevant to the primary stage curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of their Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) or Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or equivalent.

Additionally, candidates pursuing their final year of a Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) are also eligible to apply.

Syllabus:

Child Development and Pedagogy: This section assesses candidates' understanding of child development concepts and pedagogical approaches suitable for primary school teaching.

Language I (Compulsory): Candidates have to choose one language from among the options provided, which typically includes English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, or any other regional language.

Language II (Compulsory): Similar to Language I, candidates have to choose another language from the provided options.

Mathematics: This section evaluates candidates' proficiency in mathematical concepts relevant to the primary stage curriculum.

Environmental Studies: This section assesses candidates' understanding of concepts related to environmental science, social studies, and general science applicable to primary school teaching.

Examination Pattern:

CTET Paper I consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying one mark.

The total duration of the examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

There are typically 150 questions in total, with 30 questions each from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.

Passing Criteria:

To qualify for CTET Paper I, candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks (i.e., 90 out of 150) in the examination.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled need to score a minimum of 55% marks (i.e., 82 out of 150) to qualify.

Validity of CTET Certificate:

The CTET eligibility certificate is valid for a period of seven years from the date of declaration of the result.
